Enjoyed your tribute to Dusty. We had our "Angel" a Terri- Poo
(looked just like movie star Benjie) for 16 yrs, 11 months when she
was attacked by a larger dog. After a long battle we had to put her
down in July 1999. We were blessed for many years by this little
bundle of joy and
so replaced her in the fall with "Brooke" a 12 pd. Yorkie with
silken hair. She unfortunately ran off a neighbours deck while we
were away into the "covered" pool and drowned before anyone found
her. She was three and a bit.
We now have "Cassidy", a Llaso-Poo at almost 6 months.
We're hoping for a little better fortune for this little one. It is
so hard when you lose them.
I'll try to send a picture or two if I can figure out how to do it
from your site.

Thank you so much for your web site. I suffer from MCS, but of
course no one will recognize it. My husband and my boys are very
understanding. My husband is a carpenter and I used to work with
him. I painted and stained homes. This is when I first developed
symptoms. I am sensitive to perfumes,paint,rubber, exhaust fume
from cars, lawn mowers.
I have several symptoms. I have chemically induced asthma, mood
swings,confusion, chest pain, weakness, headaches, tingling in my
arms and neck. Pinesol would porbably kill me if I could not get
away from it. I have had problems with work and am presently
unemployed because of MCS. I don't wish this to happen to anyone
else, but it can happen to anyone at any time. People need to be
careful what they say. I am always apoligizing because I can't be
around someones perfume or air freshener, etc., but I am the one
that has to deal with feeling bad. I cannot go in Hardware Stores,
wallpaper places, carpet stores, any new buildings.
I am very fortunate, some people have worse symptoms than me. I
really enjoy being around people and helping people, especailly
older people, but to some people, I am a nuisance now. It has
really helped me to read your web site and to know that there are
people that understand.

After reading a few entries before mine I thought it worth
adding a few more comments. I concider myself a realist and a
pragmatic person so what I am about to type may get you a little
down. Those of you out there who are optimistic enough to believe
that your activism will take these harmful substances off the
market and that you will ever get fair treatment in the job market
better brace yourself. I you were to do what it takes to stop the
manufacture and distribution of all the things that cause and
inflame MCS you would be starting a literal war. Those who do not
suffer as we do will fight tooth and nail to wear perfume, buy
plastic, and grow food contaminated by industrial pesticides and
herbicides. There are varying degrees of MCS. I just happen to have
it bad enough that I can no longer participate in society. It is
getting to the point where I have difficulty finding uncontaminated
food and water. I have had to resort to eating only home grown
garden vegetables and wild meat (Moose, bear, fish). In the future
my wife and I hope to get goats to have milk and meat that is not
contaminated with steriods, antibiotics, and whatever else they
juice them up with. If your MCS gets bad enough you may have to
turn into a caveman and crawl into the wilderness like a fugitive.
A doctor can not give you a magic pill or surgery to make it go
away. The only way to get well is to decontaminate, and that is
getting harder and harder to do every year that goes by. I really
believe that if poloticians, bussiness men and other powerful
people were to try to put a stop to this chemical madness, that
there would be some assasins commissioned to quell the "rebellion"
against the "plastic age" by terminating anyone impinging on the
profit margin of these chemical producers. It is big, real big. It
would affect every industry in this country. The profits are to
monumental for them to just stop producing it. Certian industries,
like palstic fabrication are just impossible to do in a safe manner
and still make profits. The EPA advises to have ventilation in
these facilities but the real story is that you are still getting
poisoned when the fan is on and the door is open at the plasti fab
plant. When ever you buy some stupid plastic toy for you child, or
an acrylic clothing item you are feeding an industry that kills
it's employees. One trick they use is to lay off people after a
year or two so that when they get cancer or MCS a few years later
it becomes impossible to prove a cause/effect relationship between
a previous job and the illness. That is how I get cheated out of
suing for damages. It was three years after I moved on from that
rotten job in plastics before I figured out I had MCS. By then it
is to late to prove that their shop made me sick. I've gone to
several doctors trying to get diagnosed but they don't even know
what MCS is and blow me off. So I gave up on that course of action
and moved to Alaska, hoping that I could live off the land to
sustain my pathetic existence. I guess it will just take every one
in the whole world getting sick before people will wake up and stop
these products from killing us. Most people have to suffer before
they will do anything.

When in Iowa I worked in hot plastic vaccuum forming. That is
essentially making things out of hot plastic. It nearly ruined my
life. I would like to warn any one in the bussiness of plastics to
get out. Working with hot plastics will eventually kill you and if
it doesn't it will wreck your body. That in combination with other
chemicals I worked with has given me what I concider to Be MCS. I
can no longer work in most environments and have had to fall back
on my wifes noble efforts to support us. It would give me a warm
fuzzy feeling if everyone in America would boycott the use of any
and all plastic. It is cheap poisenous junk. Whenever you heat up
plastic above 200F it starts giving off formaldehyde in massive
quantities. Acrylic, dacron, rayon, and all polyesters are nothing
more that cloth made of plastic thread. When you wear hot acrylics
fresh out of the dryer it will poisen you. Well I could moan a lot
longer but I'll spare every one that misery. Sincerely Mike

Your site is beautiful!!! Thank you for sharing your story of
your 'special little friend. So many love their fur kids so much
that it hurts to let them go as with any loved one. I had to say
goodnight to my two special fur kids during the last couple of
years. My 16 year old Ebony (Ebby--dog, 1983-1999), and my 17 year
old Binkie--cat (1983-2000). They both went peacefully in my arms
as the star studded night sky turned into the light of dawn. They
still live because I took a picture and tucked it into my heart to
carry with me always. Thank you again for your beautiful web

Your story was beatiful. Not long ago I had to have my fiend of
13.5yrs go home. She saw me and my second son thru so much; it was
horrible. But as I have learned to take it one day at a time. That

I am glad I found this site, now I have a question for someone.
I work in a department store and have observed normally healthy
people suddenly becoming quite ill with stomach problems, 2 of them
with Chrohns Disease. These are young people too. It has suddenly
occurred to me that they may be poisoned by their department which
sells, sheets, towels and comforters coming from many places around
the world. I want to warn them and my higher ups, but want more

Finding your web site was like a miracle!
Four years ago, after being extremely tired, ill and overworked,
suffering from psoriasis, and after a series of tests in the
hospital, I was told that I am allergic for formaldehyde (I have to
wear special shoes), nickel, phenol and "fragrance mix". Nobody,
however, could tell me more about it. Not even the dermatologist.
Nobody could name it for me. The doctors did not even tell me to
stay away from persons with an overdose of aftershave, gel,
deodorant, softener or perfume. I had to find it all out for
myself.
It was a colleague at school where I am teaching, a Witness of
Jehova, who showed me some articles in their American magazine. And
here I learned at last that my allergy had a proper name: MCS.
With that information I tried Internet and got straight into your
web site!
It is as if I finally am getting recognition for something that
even my house doctor seems to think of that I am "overdoing it a
little bit".
I am learning a lot from your site. But most of all: I do not feel
so alone anymore!

I am having an experience @ work regarding a co-worker and very
heavy perfume. She is new and it took me a week to figure out why I
was getting awful headaches. The whole office has commented about
about it. I work in a retail store that is approx. 6000sqft inside
and this perfume can be strongly smelt all day anywhere in the
store. I spoke up, offending her, and her comment was "I can smell
smoke on you which is no different." I do not smoke at my desk. I
go outside, summer or winter, twice a day to smoke and usually have
2 at lunch. Why does cigarette smoke not affect me but perfume
does? I am trying to be fair and get all my faxes together before
taking this matter to management. Your imput would be greatly

What a blessing to find your site! Thank you so much for sharing
your story and providing so much invaluable information on MCS.
I was diagnosed with MCS about 1 1/2 years ago although we think I
have suffered from it for years. It broke my heart to recently quit
my job as a ministry assistant at The Chapel in Akron, Ohio. I love
the people I had the privilege of working with but the upkeep of
the very large building was aggravating my condition more and more.
As a dear friend said, I was like a canary in a mine. Many people
working there have struggled for years with symptoms that indicate
it's a sick building. I've tried to educate people but it is quite
an up hill battle.
I too rely on my faith in God. I know He has given me this time at
home for a purpose and I thank him for that. I have the opportunity
to write, enjoy my needlework and spend time with our cats.
My husband has been so wonderful through my illness. His
unconditional love and devotion have meant the world to me. He is
very protective of me and often notices things he knows will bother
me before I notice it myself. Larry and our doctor were encouraging
me to quit my job for months before I was ready to make the break.
Our financial losses have been and continue to be great but we
trust God will see us through.
Thank you so much for the Bible verses you have included on your
site. I do have days of discouragement and frustrations due to the
limitations I face in what I do, where I go and who I spend time
with. It has been especially discouraging when people I love
continue to wear perfumes, hair sprays, etc. knowing full well how
it will effect me. How I miss their hugs and time with them. Unless
someone has lived with this disorder, they cannot fully understand
how life changing it is.
I was wondering if you have receiving any kind of treatment for
your allergies. Because I am so sensitive to chemicals, many
medications and traditional means of treatment simply do not work.
Even the non-traditional means of treatment I have tried have only
provided limited, short-term relief. I would appreciate your
sharing things that have worked for you beyond the non-toxic living
suggestions you've provided here.
As an extrovert, I could go on and on but I will say farewell.
Again, thank you for your website. It is a real blessing.

Thank you for your website. When I returned back to work, I was
encouraged that there was someone aiding those with MCS, especially
form a Christian perspective. I thank God for many things, but 2
years ago I was simply glad to be alive, thankful that God had
spared my life from death and showed me the reason for my failing
health over the last 2-3 years. This is my story....for 2-3 years,
I had experienced all the classic symptoms of carbon monoxide
poisoning, from chronic headaches, fatigue, dizziness, nauseau,
ETC- too many problems to mention- I think you may know what I
mean. Through doctor visits, in Oct 1999, I was diagnosed with MCS,
yet not knowing why? I proceeded to rid my house of all toxins I
could, start on vitamins and antioxidants, and read up on MCS. By
February 2000, I was having EXTREME difficulty breathing. I started
to question the gas heat in our house, as almost every other source
of toxins had been eliminated. I remember testing the vents;
standing directly over them for 1-2 minutes and nearly passing out.
The gas company came out to check the furnace- found nothing and
assured us everything was operating properly. The next week, while
I was praying thru the night (sleep was intermittent with pain), I
felt God telling me to turn off the gas, no matter what the "gas
experts" said, no matter that my husband was opposed to being cold,
and then I would live. With that resolve, I did. In 2 days, I had
relief. Weeks later, we found a crack in the exhaust vent from our
hot water heater and furnace. Because I was exposed the most, I
suffered the most- except for the cat, who lost all his fur, threw
up a lot and had many other symptoms I'm probably not aware of. I
had slept over the leak (our bedroom is above the garage), was home
all day, seldom getting outside, and was often going in and out of
the garage.
Since then we have all been recovering. I must say, it was very
frightening at first (like for a year later), all the strange
things that were happening to me as I went through "healing
crises". But God has been good to bring healing to me and my family
and yes, the cat has grown back most his fur.
God has brought me thru a lot and if I could help others with what
He has shown me, I'd be glad to. I've learned more about toxins and
detoxing than I ever wanted to.

It's THE BEST information on MCS that I have found. I have been
dealing with this illness since January, 1994. I went through the
same thing you did with doctors. I finally discovered for myself
what was wrong with me.
I'm already familiar with much of the information in your site, but
I've also learned new and important things. I also like your site
because it will give me a place to tell friends to go to get a
great overview of my illness and also to learn what our environment
is doing to them. People think they are "bullet proof" until it
happens to them. As you point out, they are all affected to some
degree. They just haven't "crashed" yet.
Most importantly it's nice to hear the story of someone who has
been through this.
Your website is great in an of itself. The organization, layout and
links are terrific. I have only read a small part so far and I'm
looking forward to reading the rest.

Hi I would like to hear from anyone who has any info on an
established copper or iron overload in their system and how it has
contributed or ignited MCS.
I have MCS and just was tested for iron and copper.....dangerously
high levels in my blood. I will start phlebotomy next week (blood

I was recently poisoned from perfume and hospitalized. I have
asthma and while doing a breathing treatment my friends neice used
my bathroom. After leaving my bathroom I noticed a strong tatse of
perfume in my mouth. By this time it was too late I had breathed in
several particles of her perfume deep into my lungs. I tasted
perfume all night. three hours later I wasa rushed to the hospital
my lungs were not functioning and they were not responding to
steroids or other treastments the hospital administated. However
hours went by and I finally stared to respond a litle bit . I am
still on Oxygen because of this childs mistake and will be so for
quite sometime. So my point is this if you like perfume use it
sparyingly and above all do it in a ventilated area, where it will
have a chance to air. Remeber even if you don't think about your
own lungs think about others.. Thank you for listening.

I just found out what was wrong with me in July of 2001
after going from specialist to specialist.The only comfort
I get now is being in a control enviroment.I not comfortable
in a social setting.I haven't been to church in three month
because people just do not understand ,just because perfume smell
good it is posion to some people.The public need to be educated to
the effect of chemicals to the human system.

THank you for sharing about mcs. I never thought that I would
have this, I loved my perfume, the flowers, the smell of fresh
grass cut,cleaning chemicals that were lemon scented, candles and
now all those pleasures are tormentors to my body. I remember
exactly when it first began, the year and week. The pecan trees
made me sick with their tags or blooms and then it was more and
more down hill, and tormenting to be around the very pleasures, I
had enjoyed. People just think it is mild allergies, they do not
understand ,unless their immune system is compromised, with Chronic
Fatigue immune dysfunction or fibromaylgia or other
illnesses.

Greetings from Arizona!
Just wanted to make up for errors in my last posting. Spelling
error occured for the name of my state, its Arizona (must have been
smust in my brain?) Here in Arizona we get a combination of smog
and dust (the smog rolls in ovefrom Californian :>)) and with
the abundance of Arizona dust we have it turns into smust!
Also, Tucson is not too far to travel to sit in on a support group
meeting for MCS sufferers. That's how much I would like to attemd a
"face-to-face" interaction with other MCSers/EI people. We could
share emotional support.
Would K.O. tell me more about the HEAL group? Is it self-help?
Facilitated by a clinician with medical background or knowledgeable
about MCS/EI? Please email me again.
Also, anyone wishing to email me with shared experience information
is welcome, would like to hear from other states too.
My mask still protects me from people wearing fragances, I wish
they'd realize yes, they have a right to wear it, BUT on the other
hand, we/I have a right to BREATHE. In my thinking isn't breathing
a priority?

me. He didn't give me much information about it either. He said it
was just an allergy. But noe I know it has a name. Which makes me

I have MCS - but not nearly as severely as yours was when you
finally put all the clues together. Mine is moderate by comparison.
I get the hot face, flushed face, dizziness and mental confusion as
well as inflammation in soft tissues and joint pain. And fatigue of
course - not debilitating, but chronic.
Thanks to your site, which I have visited often, I know what my
triggers are. I've removed all the chemicals from my bathroom and
kitchen. I clean my house with baking soda, borax and vinegar. My
vacuum has a hepa filter. My clothes are 100% cotton or wool. We
have NO particle board furniture at all.
We are looking at building a new home in the next year and are
already factoring my MCS into the cost of building. There will be
no particle board, no carpeting or vinyl linoleum of any kind. Just
hardwood, tile and logs. I'm really looking forward to it. I know
I'll feel so much healthier once I'm out of this living space.
I, too, have to wear a mask when I go out - perfume sensitivity. I
take the bus to work and lately the university students have made
that ride difficult with perfume being in fashion. My office isn't
the best environment but the windows open, allowing for fresh air
intake. And the university campus is a huge green space, so the air
is very fresh as compared to working downtown.
Anyway, thanks for your page and the resources you have listed.
You've helped me so much. You've helped me more than any of my
doctors have!

Just wanted to say Hi! I have this illness and am actually going
to work in town ,hopefully I'll be able to stay there. I am not as
bad as some people yet but I do have to stay away from alot of
things. When I did the interview nothing bothered me (and I am a

I have MCS and when I found this web site I felt that I was not
alone. So many people are affected by it .We moved from PA. 7yrs.
ago for our daughters health and she got better and one night as I
walked outside the mosquitio control truck sprayed me full force
and I haven't been the same since then.I started to have all kinds
of different systems with my body and when I mentioned about the
spraying doctors told me that it was not harmful. Now I cant handle
anything when it comes to any kind of frangences and chemical. This

there didnt believe her and thought something from her childhood

I was diagnosed in 1999 after getting some chemicals on me while
at work to be allergic to para-phenylenediamine. This is hard to
stay away from especially when it is in gasoline. I know it is
getting where I cannot stand to be around perfumes and smelly hand
lotions because it takes my breath away. If we all get together and
write our Senators, Congressmen and the FDA about our reactions to
chemicals hopefully we could get manufacturers to use some less
hazardous chemicals. Maybe not look how our Gulf War vets were
treated about their MCS complaints. Thank you for caring and having

Our son started 2nd grade in a new school this year. The start
of the 2001-2002 school year was delayed for several weeks in order
to complete the new school. Our son shows mild tics but after the
first day of school his tic (head shaking) was nearly constant.
This went on for the first week of school. Week #2 begins on
Tuesday (after labor day) and we have already decided not to put
him back in and will start home school until we see a change or
determine why the sudden and drastic change. After visiting your
web site we plan to contact a qualified allergist ASAP to have him
tested. We have seen nutritionist but have not seen a reduction
(some times the opposite occurs) in tics when he is taking vitamins
(full range - calcium, B, multi, zinc, etc.).
Background:
Our son first showed tics after his 4 yr old vaccinations. He ran a
fever (102 degrees) after he received the vaccination. In less than
a week he began showing tics (tongue would stick out constantly).
After a month we went to see a nutritionist and started detox
powders and vitamins. We requested a hair analysis that showed he
was toxic in minerals present in the vaccinations.

I live in Ireland and used to do all our painting. I cannot do so
now and our painters used water based paints by Permoglaze and
Crown. I suggest that you use latex based paints instead of oil
based paints on the outside of your windows unless you are allergic
to latex.. it flexes with the temperature instead of splitting and
I wasn't allergic to it.
There is a German lass in Co. Clare, Ireland who makes organic
paints. I don't have an address for her.. She was on a TV programme
about building houses by RTE in Donnybrook, Dublin.

Has anyone out there had experience with a 24 HR Holter Monitor
Test to show heart irregularities? I am looking for tests that can
document my symptoms from exposures for Soc Sec Disability. Heart
irregularities is a big problem for me. Then there is my brain

Dearest Jacki ... Praise Jesus for having led me to your story
on the internet .. Hello from the Westcoast of Florida .. :-) I
read with GREAT interest about your "conversion" as it mirrors to
some degree my own experience. I "departed" from the catholic
church many years ago when I was 16 years old for the VERY
same/similiar reasons you have and stated yourself in your story ..
"FEAR OF GOING TO HELL" joked and numbed me through my entire
childhood and youth as my entire family - all "devout" catholics -
forced upon me that "going to church, confessing to priests,
attending sacraments, etc etc" for the rest of life was my ONLY way
to MAYBE !!! get to heaven ... .. many many years later, that being
in 1999, a christian lady who was my supervisor in a temp
assignment I was sent to, invited me to "her church" and during my
very first visit there, I was saved .. all of that lifelong
suppressed desire I had to REALLY know and love Jesus released
itself from my heart and soul in an almost unending "river of
tears" which I cried relentlessly while being saved ... as you say
and I couldn't agree M O R E if I tried, I was finally liberated
and FREE to love Jesus as I had always wanted to, but never
could/was allowed to! Shortly after I was saved, I learned
something MOST important, and that was so fantastic, and that
was
that Jesus has always "been" and only took on an earthly body in
the womb of his mother mary to be born and accomplish the mission
God sent Him to accomplish to redeem mankind .. after I had learned
this information which miraculously came to me .. and while day
meditating on the word "Savior" in the book of Titus, I had a mind
boggling "Jesus nearness" experience .. please click in on my
website and read the portion/page called "Dancing with my champion"
..whereon I have documented this experience, I am sure you will
enjoy it :-) Since I HAVE been saved, I am still and all searching
for a "spiritual home" and, since a catholic church is only about 2
blocks from my home, I started attending services there this past
January (old habits die hard ?? Lol lol) out of "convenience" and,
after only SIX months of attending, I have once again re-learned
that what I have learned and experienced as a Christian, does NOT
at all chive/agree with what the catholic church "broadcasts" yes !
"broadcasts" .. for the last couple of days, I have been surfing
the net for "answers" and Jesus in His infinite wisdom led me to
your story and website .. your story was my so-to-speak "star
witness" to convict :-) (I am a paralegal.. lol) and all that you
wrote really really spoke to me .. I am going to conduct an in
depth search for a new spiritual home .. it might even be a
lutheran church .. as I could very much identify with what I read
about Lutherans (I am also a native german !) I am sure Jesus will
lead me to a new church just as certain as He led me to your
website and on this note, I don't want to take up any more space in
your visitor remarks page ;-), but want to thank you very very much

I am a 40 yr old mother of 2 that was diagnosed with Myoclonus
& EMF Sensitivities due to MCS & EI in 1992. I was pregnant
with my youngest child at the time and living in a mobile home. It
was placed over a natural gas line with crop dusting outside the
door. The bedroom window had an electrical transformer placed 10
ft. away. I went to EHC-D and saw Dr. William Rea. He was the first
doctor that was able to really tell me what was wrong. All the
others said I was having myoclonus - but couldn't determine the
cause since it's not in my brain. (But it is in my head -
psychosymatic). My seizures can last from 30 minutes to 4 hours. I
would love to talk to others that suffer from myo or EMF.

I get classical allergic symptoms in response to inhalation
and/or skin contact with perfumes,laundry detergents containing
fragrance or enzymes, air fresheners, all other scented products,
some adhesives, and mothballs (paradichlorobenzene). By classical I
mean severe rhinitis, bronchial constriction, swollen eyes,
conjunctivitis, earache, headache, and hives. I am a consulting
toxicologist by profession and am concerned when sufferers from
allergy or chemical sensitivity are on a tirade against chemicals
in general. High enough exposures to some substances (such as
chloramine, formaldehyde, or cyanide) are acutely toxic to all
people. Similarly, exposures to other substances (such as benzene
or asbestos) at sufficiently high levels and for sufficiently long
durations can produce severe health effects (even cancer) in
anyone. But the chemical substances that produce such terrible
acute effects in us at extremely low levels of exposure are
essentially non-toxic to non-sufferers at those same exposure
levels. The sooner we allergic and/or chemically sensitive people
stop behaving like angry, ignorant Luddites, the sooner we will
begin to obtain cooperation from regulatory agencies (and perhaps
manufacturers) in our quest for an environment in which we can move
about freely without fear of acute health consequences. We should
think of ourselves as handicapped and go about trying to educate
the rest of the world about our handicap in an effort to get them
to want to stop impairing our health.
I live in Seattle and would love to meet other people in this area
who strive to maintain a fragrance-free, allergen-free
lifestyle.
Does anyone know of a resource for finding fragrance-free
accommodations? In particular I would like to find a hotel or Bed
and Breakfast in the San Francisco Bay Area (Berkeley or environs),
as I will be traveling there in a few days.

I did not know this site even exsisted! I 'am so tired of trying
to explain to people and my husband what smells do to me!!!! I can
get a headack in less then a minute if i come across a smell
weather it be gasoline ,furnture polish, soaps cooking smells! I
can not help this. I have m.v.p. and when i come in contact with
smells that get me fast it starts the mitrol valve to flare up and
then the migrains!!!! If there any thing you can send to me about

so. People just do not understand how bad this can be .I can't go
into a place to eat or shop with out the fear of if i smell
something then what well, i have to leave or i get migrains! or

I found your site while trying to help my beloved friend in Calif.
who just accidently rented a house at great expense
(non-refundable) w/ 18 month lease who has extreme reaction to some
chemical there (maybe carpets) so can't move in and I'm floundering
about trying to see how to help. It's amazing to me how many people
must be "silently suffering" out there, so I'm thinking now how to
help them - particularly with inventions, and secondly with info.

PS I do wish you would use the King James Bible which I've found to
be the best version - it's very more powerful and alive, clearer
and easier to memorize scriptures from and more beautiful also, in
my experience - it's very wonderful! The other versions in general
seem based on messed up Greek texts. The cross references between
verses seem much easier to me also. Lord willing, more later, but
... got to run now.

It is ashame to read some peoples attacks on the message site. I
think this is really a peaceful site that only brings a
person that has been touched by God closer together to inspect the
polutions around us. God does have a desire to have a personal
relationship with each and everyone of us and he also tells us to
ask for Wisdom. Thru meditational
prayer I recieved the answer that my 8 yr old daughter has Tourette
Syndrom. I will continue to pray for wisdom and knowledge on this
subject.I am just so amazed that I have seen symptoms since she was

Hulda Clark recommends a parasite cleanse in her book "Cure for
ALl Diseases". Alot of information can be found on her website,
which I just found, www.huldaclark.com. However, MCS people may
have trouble with the products...cloves, black walnut extract and
wormwood. This is to add to the info about coffee enemas, liver
cleanses, etc. I am trying colon irrigations right now, also called
high enemas or colonics. They can also be very helpful in cleaning
out parasites and other garbage.

Just wanted to tell you also what I have found that is helping.
This isn't the sweetest subject, but us sufferers are beyond pride
and squeemishness. I don't know if you've ever heard of Dr. Max
Gerson? He seems to be the one who brought coffee enemas back to
light. This treatment really flushes the poisons out of the
overburdened liver quickly, which is unable to filter out all the
poisons like it is supposed to. Whenever I feel sickness coming on
to end up in a bad headache from some fumes I have breathed or from
some chemicals I have eaten, I do the coffee treatment as soon as I
can. (Which is about everyday now.) This eliminates so much pain I
just can't praise God enough for leading me to this. I also have an
herbal liver tonic that a friend of mine gives me the herbs to
make. This helps especially with any petro-chemical toxin that has
entered from breathing. I don't know what herbs are in the mix, but
my friend does. I have a suspicion that my liver is clogged up from
years of welding, being around auto shops, etc., so I am preparing
to do a liver cleanse prescribed by dr. Hulda Clark. But first I
have to cleanse my kidneys. If you've never heard of her I strongly
recommend her book, "The Cure for All Diseases". It is very simple
and you will learn alot.
Also, I have found some relief with NAET: Nambudripad Allergy
Elimination Technique, done with EDS: Electro-Dermal Screening,
which quickly determines what substances one is allergic to.
Also, people in our weakened state are prime candidates for cancer.
I cannot recommend highly enough a book called "World Without
Cancer" by G. Edward Griffin. I have personally met him and have
followed much of his research for many years. He has an impeccable
record for bringing out the truth. More info available at

You're all hyper-sensitive...Why are you attacking perfume? What
do you hope to accomplish? What about the sun? The rain? The air?
The food you eat? The clothes you wear? How about that CAR you
drive to and from church?! The gas you pump into it, the oil?
Hmmm... Is your church painted? How about your house? Do you buy
things made with plastic or rubber? All of those things will
involve dangerous chemicals at some point in the manufacturing
process...I know you know this so my question still stands... WHAT
DO YOU HOPE TO ACCOMPLISH BY ATTACKING PERFUME? Get over it... I
would *much* rather stand next to a person that smelled good than a
person who smells of BO!

qEEG tests (quantitative electroencephalogram) map the brain and
have been effective in MCS cases for disability, etc. Has anyone
out there had one done and how helpful was it? This test is going
to be available at the MCS conference in Aug in Santa Fe and at a
reduced fee (if enough people sign up). It is otherwise not
available to many of us because it is specialized for MCS
sufferers. You don't have to be attending the conference to

you so much for providing this website and info. on environmental
sensitivities, but I especially rejoiced when I pulled up your
testimony page and realized you were fellow believers. My prayer
for you is that the Lord God would continue to fill you with the
Knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding,
that you may walk worthy and fully pleasing to Him, continually
being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the Knowledge

I am a 43 yr old servant of our Lord Jesus, retired RN, (due to my
MS symptoms worsening (1-1/2 yrs ago))and increasingly getting more
and more sensitive to certain environments. One of which happens to
be our church building which grieves my heart! It is about 100
years old,
located at the beach with no ventilation, air conditioning, just
lots of humidity, mold,mildew, musty smells etc. I limit my
exposure now to the building because of the triggering symptoms and
the residual effects on the MS symptoms for days afterward. I
improve greatly when I am not exposed for weeks at a time. But this
is difficult to do since the Lord has blessed my husband with
serving on the worship team and myself with the Women's Ministry.
Monday nights are difficult for me since I am in the building for
the Women's study from 6:30pm-9:30pm. It has definitely taken a
toll on my health but I can't discern between spiritual warfare or
if the Lord wants to move me elsewhere (I am in leadership and lead
one of the studies)
Do you have any suggestions? My husband and I attend another bible
teaching non-denom church every sat.evening that does have
air-conditioning and I feel great when I am there and can
consentrate on the message too whereas when I am in the other
church building, my CNS symptoms are pretty bad. The difficult
thing is that our church that I'm allergic to is in dire need of
servants who are grounded in the Word and sold out for Jesus
willing to serve (women's ministry esp.) Do you have any input
concerning being able to tolerate the environment of the church

Thank you so much for your wonderful website. After years of
hearing doctors tell me that there was nothing wrong with my 9 year
old son, I think we have finally found the root of our problems. He
is allergic to newsprint and certain perfumes. While trying to
narrow down the chemicals he has problems with I have come up with
Benzophenone, Benzyl Acetate and Benzyl Alcohol. The biggest
problem I have now is how to help him in school where his symptoms
are the most severe. (headaches, conjestion, exhaustion,
irritability) If anyone has any suggestions as to what I could tell
his teachers or how I can help them to provide a safe environment
for my son, I would greatly appreciate it.

Hi, I actually just read your story on the OO web page,
I think it is great that you were finally able
to change your relationship with food, it must be
so freeing not to have food be your main focus in life anymore. I
am just stating my journey, well actually it will be almost a year
this july that I started eating in responce to hunger, I have
managed to lose 90 Lbs. by listening
to my body but it has been a strugle, especially lately,
I think it is because as I lost I started having too much of a self
focus and started thinking about dieting again. I would love to
hear where you are at with OO, is it still a big part of your life?

I'm adding this site to our favorites. My husband suddenly
developed a severe case of MCS 4 years ago at my niece's wedding. I
thought I was going to have to take him to the hospital as he
couldn't breathe, was ashen, foggy, and almost incoherent. Of
course the doctors he went to thought he was crazy and had a panic
disorder or something, so we had to begin doing research ourselves.
As we slowly switched over to healthier products, removed all
scents from our home, and found a more sympathetic doctor, he has
gradually gotten to the point where he can actually enjoy going to
church again and usually can sit through the entire service (unless
someone with perfume sits down near him). It has been a long and
arduous journey and it's somehow comforting to know that there are
others who also struggle to live in a society that simply doesn't
understand or even care to understand. What hurts most is when
relatives who know and should care come to family events reeking of
perfume, clothes softeners, hair products, etc. Thanks for your web

i was very impressed about jackies story. when my husband and i
moved here from pennsylvania for my daughters health i had no idea
my whole life would change. we moved here in 1995 not knowing that
they do mosquite spraying in our subdivision. on this one night i
couldn't figure out what the noise was and i stepped out to see and
the mosquite control truck came down the strret and sprayed me full
force i ran in the house told my daughter to close all the windows
and i took a shower little did i know the damage was done . i
started having alot of problems sinuses bladder female problems and
sensitive to everything newspaper tar perfumes cleaning products
shampoo nail polish nail polish remover and the list goes on. i
have been to 6 doctors and the last one is the one that told me i
had mcs i did 30 sessions of chelation therphy and 3 colonics but i
still am sensitivie to chemical. i need to see a doctor like jackie
did. DR. Albert Robbins in Boca Raton but dont they have one closer
to where i live in the tampa bay area.i printed the story of jackie
for my doctor and for myself to show my husband that there is help

Gold/Silver filling's and the Amalgum mercury that held the
filling's and cap's in have cost me in many way's, the best part's

Please send me the free booklets on MCS. I visited the
Tourette's Syndrome & EI section as well as all the other
catagories. I didn't get through all the articles, but I wil return
to finish reading them. I have 2 Children girl-14yrs. boy-9ys. who
both have "Tourette Syndrome". My boy also has asthma. We don't
have anyone on either side of the family with T.S. but we have alot
of allergies on both sides. I can't explain the emotions I
experienced reading on the Tourette's & EI. Can you please send
me names & PH#'s of Doctor's close to the State of Mo.? I know
my children's symptoms are highly related to allergies. In fact my
daughter was tested positive to allergins several years ago. She
also has ADHD & OCD. I never had her retested because it took 4
people to hold her down for the pric testing at age 4. I could't
put her through that again. My son tested negative to the testing
although he is on many medications to control his activity enduced
asthma. He uses a Ventolin inhaler-2puffs as needed, Intal
inhaler-2puffs 3xdly.,Serevent inhaler-2puffs 2xdly,Pulmicort
inhaler-2puffs 2xdly,Claritin Redi-Tabs,& Singulair. I planned
on getting a 2nd opinion from a childrens Hospital for his asthma
but I feel his medicines to treat his asthma may be triggering it,
as well as food & who know's what else. He just started vocal
& motor tics about 10mo.'s ago. I will now take a different
approach for treatment of their symptoms. I'm excited to know that
they probably don't have T.S. That may sound strange, but I have
been searching for a reason why they have Tourette's. My 12yr.
search has now come to an end & I feel very confident that it
is connected to environmental & allergies. I want to thank you
so much for putting this web site together. Please send the

I found your website very informative. I love the section "Our
Christian Faith". I am waiting for my daughter to teach me how to
use the support sections. 12 years ago I was diagnosed with
Fibrositis. March 27, 2001 I inhaled chemicals at work and have
been sick ever since. After smelling floor polish at a restaurant
and having a severe reaction I realized that my fibrositis was
somehow related and caused by inhaling floor polish daily while at
work as a baker. The damage to my body is unbeleivable, sometimes I
have the mobility of a 90 year old woman. I suffer all the
resperatory problems along with tingling in my legs and hands and
the loss of use of my legs, loss of use of my left arm, heart
problems, drooling, loss of bladder & bowel control, &
difficulty in feeding myself. PTL these things go away and only
happen when I come in contact with certain things. Unfortunately I
often don't find out till it is too late. I thank God for your
willingness to start such a informative website. I pray that God
will move the hearts of people to realize what is going on before
it is too late. Even my own family thinks that I am overreacting.

Sorry about the spelling last time. I am so thrilled to find a
Christian site such as yours. Because of the sensitvity I have to
perfumes, going to church has turned into a chore. Besides being so
sick afterwards, there seems to be so few who actually believe
there is a problem. Due to allergies, asthma, chemical sensitivity
I am unable to work. Do you know of any Christian chat rooms for

A Big Arizona Hi to all my fellow MCS friends! I am very glad I
found this site. Some of you are so much worse than I am and I am
praying for you all. I first became aware that something was wrong
with me in 1993, when I turned forty. I had been overcome with a
pesticide called Durspan. I had never has asthma, just slight
pollen allergies that were seasonal and Seldane put them in there
place. I was the CEO of the 5th largest Mental Health Program in
the Westen states. I had to leave my job because I was getting
sicker and sicker. I have a great education but companies only saw
me as a liaability not an asset. After 6 years of being sick I
finally discovered what I had, MCS. I have spent the last 3 years
working for a very large car dealership in telemarketing and
internet sales. I earn enough to live and keep my health insurance.
I have been recognized by two doctors in my area as having MCS and
EI. Neither knows what to do with me, so I do research and tell
them what I want done. Currently the MCS has degenerated to the
point that I now have Congestive Heart Failure and Kidney failure.
Because of these two wonderful bi-products of MCS I have been
recognized and protected in my employment and a Disabled Person.
They dont like it but they are Reasonably Accomodating me by making
our office fragrance free- That means even the cleaning p[roducts.
They have also installed a Heppa Filer, extra ventilation and a
window. Sometime when I am to ill to work I am able to do somee of
my work from home. I dont know the answers to what ails us but I
know we need to keepp on going. I have found a soap that iss for
Shampoo aand body washing that has no 'Chemicals' in it. It is
primarily Aloe and Lanolin - "SO-Soft can be found at

I am writing to ask if anyone is on Section 8 housing
and needs accommodations by landlord for disability
and if those accommodations can be reimbursed to
landlord by the public housing authority. I have seen
web sites stating you can ask your local housing authority
to provide the accommodation instead of the landlord but
I have not seen anyone saying or a web site stating the
exact law governing this. Does anyone know? If and when
you are given an extra l20% rent allowance for the disabilty
to find housing is the difference paid by the low income
person or the housing authority to the landlord.
What do you do for pesticides coming into the home
when spraying is being done? I have windows closed
and clothes dryer closed vent taped shut but still get
in house and become very sick and almost paralized.
Any suggestions?

I was at my brother's house the other day and they had a
Glade plug-in in the kitchen where we were sitting. I
noticed the strong smell when I first got there. After
a while, I started feeling very tired and a little dizzy.
Then, my vision started getting blurry and I was seeing
shimmering "halos," and I was having trouble reading the
words in a book my brother was showing me. I had to leave
because my vision was getting worse. I opened the car windows while
I was driving home and after about 10 minutes
I felt better and my vision returned to normal.

I am the only one I know of who has an allergy to chicken.I mean
the feathers make me cough, they are in pillows, blankets, coats.
When I eat chicken in any form it is like the worse flu ever..green
apple trots,headache,tired, exhausted, that's what I thought the
flu. Or that I was getting bad food. Everytime we ate out I was
sick for 3-5 days..anything fixed where chicken was made me
sick..no more french fries,fried cheese, chinese, etc..It was not
until I got a flue shot 3 yrs ago and got sick with in 5 minutes
and had to go to the doc., and he finally told me what I partly
knew..how about you????

I am glad that you guys have this website it means a lot to me I
know a person who has a disease caused from chemicals. I like
perfume but when Im around certain people I know I try to go
lightly on the perfume. I feel bad to know that there are people
out there that can't be around perfume at all,when they make
perfume they should use all natural ingredients like Vanilla,
Peach, and Apple. i use this perfume that smells like coconut and
one day my teacher read off some ingredients and while he was
reading them I looked at my perfume bottle and none of the
ingredients was on there but I know that doesn't necessarily mean
that my perfume is safe for everybody.

Ever heard of a neurological challenge known as ADHD - Attention
Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder syndrome? Although it is termed ADHD
today, it has previously been known as ADD (Attention Deficit
Disorder), Hyperactivity, Hyperkinesis, Minimal Brain Dysfunction
and Minimal Brain Damage. A number of years ago with the help of my
doctor, Anita Uhl Brothers, M.D., of Berkeley, California it was
determined that I could detect some FDA approved food additives
which were present in some drugs and foods. In my own case, the
hidden food additives acted in me like undisclosed very powerful
drugs vs how they were presented by the manufacturers as simply
completely inert ingredients/food additives. Dr. Brothers, M.D.
called for full disclosure ingredient labeling so that the small
number of persons believed to be extremely chemically sensitive to
some food additives (such as the FDandC Yellow Food Color No. 5 -
tartrazine - and the artificial sweetener, sodium saccharin) would
be better informed and could choose to avoid them if they wanted.

As an adult with very mild ADHD - Inattentive type - I am today
(2001) helped with an FDA approved alerting agent/stimulant/special
caffeine compound (additive-free)which works better for me than
Ritalin and regularly and temporarily tends to reduce
distractibility and increase attention span for me. I can tell an
enormous difference between a medicine which works for me which is
additive-free vs one which is full of additives such as the
artificial yellow color FDandC Yellow No. 5 and contains an
artificial sweetener such as sodium saccharin. Both Dr. Brothers
and I feel that consumers have the right to full ingredient
disclosure which is an easy way of informing consumers so that
those who are extremely sensitive to some common food additives can
avoid them if they want.
Extreme reactions to some everyday chemicals is quite real for at
least a small group of persons. Your website helps get that message
out to the public and thereby helps people.

Your website is refreshing(in a non-scented fashion!)Chemical
inhalents have been the bane of my existence for five decades. I
suffer from MCS,CFIDS,acute migraine,severe neurological symptoms
and the whole ball of wax. I'm sure anyone interested enough to
come anywhere near this site knows the whole story. I've found
people to discuss almost every aspect of these problems except the
one that counts,inhalent chemical reactivity.This is undeniably and
unquestionably the trigger that precipitates my suffering. This
conviction is based upon 50yrs. of observation and scrutiny and a
focus that can only be brought to bare through an endlessly
repeating series of identical and painful episodes. Even healers
who acknowlage the problem universally minimize its severity,let
alone its prime canidacy as the PRIMARY CAUSE for these disorders.
Well, as I stated,I'm sure everyone visiting here is aware of the
problem, and of the lack of recognition and response that is
currently experienced. But, here I am venting to you who already
know,because you are the only ones listening. I did send an e-mail
supporting the petition to reclass CK's Eternity(thats how long it
takes to clear from my system) thanks to your site's suggestion. I
found you,by the way, by entering "perfume manufacturers" into my
search. I had just finished a LONG letter to National Geographic
berating them for including a sheet of MEN'S COLOGNE sample in my
"nature magazine". I cancelled and included a short primer on
enviornmental illness for their edification. I was searching for
perfume companies to harrass when I found your site, much better!
Now I can get all of them! Seriously,in spite of the pain they have
caused,I seek more to educate them than to harrass. Perhaps they
can yet avoid the path of the cigarette companies,which is to be
litigated and legislated out of existence,if they can limit
themselves to aiming their products at those who desire them rather
than cramming them down the faces of those who are doing everything
they can to avoid them. Keep up the good work,andfeel free to
publish my comments for anyone interested. I'll be writing the
fabric softener people next (those guys really get me downy) and
the govt. agencies about the related neurological complaints. I

Greetings Everyone! I think this is an awesome site! It's the
only one on MCS that I've found that's given any helpful
suggestions on what products to use! Thanks for a great, helpful,
encouraging site!
I am wondering if anyone can help me. I've been sick for 14 years,
I'm 28, with other conditions and although I've only been diagnosed
with MCS for 1 1/2 years, I've had it for at least 12. I've gotten
no help at all from doctors. The past two years it's worsened and
now it's to the point I am completely homebound, my already
limited, organic, diet doesn't seem to be agreeing with me and my
skin is red and oozing from soaps and detergents burning my skin.
I've tried regular brands and natural brands of both and nothing
seems to help for more than a week. Then it's like they turn on me.
I am thrilled to read the suggestions of "no fragance" detergents
in the "Neighborhood Health Notice!", but I can't find the products
listed. Has anyone tried Allens Naturally Ultra Laundry Powder?
That's all I've been able to find in my area. I'd like to try
washing my clothes in baking soda, as suggested. Can anyone tell me
how much to use per load?
Also, does anyone know of a doctor who treats MCS patients in the
state of Minnesota and western Wisconsin? I've been around the
major hospitals and can't find anyone. My doctor sent me to the
Mayo Clinic for this and they were no help at all.
I would appreciate any ideas, help and suggestions anyone would
like to give me. I am pretty new to this all this. I used to be
able to just avoid certain triggers, but now it's very bad. I am
incredibly sick and uncomfortable and don't have any more ideas on
what else to try.

1984 and set legal precident in federal court in 87. In 1991 I
earned a degree in Environmental Science with a speciality in
behavioral toxicology. After earning the degree I was asked, in
1994 by the US Senate Veteran's Affairs Committee to participate in
the investigation of Gulf War Illness and the following year wrote
a brief for the White House. By the way not many know that the vast
majority of us who worked for the Vets did so on a voluntary basis
with no pay. I have now written a book about my experience and

I'm thrilled to find this site! Jacki's Story could be my story.
I've given up on finding help from the medical doctors. I've seen
counselors and psychiatrist too. They don't seem to have any idea
what is wrong with me; you see, I'm happier than I've ever been . .
. but, I still feel tired and suffer from chronic pain.
One female doctor told me that they hear these kinds of complaints
from women all the time, so they "don't pay much attention to
them." I wonder if it has ever crossed her mind that maybe women
suffer from these symptoms because they are ususally the ones using
all the toxic soaps and cleaners. I bet that as more and more men
start taking on more and more of the housework, we will see more
and more men coming down with the same symptoms.
I am now facing the task of getting rid of the toxins in my home.
I've talked to my husband about this, but, he doesn't seem to be
very enthusiastic. Any suggestions on how to throw out the
chemicals without causing total shock to the husband???

well , there must not be a lot of people out there with M.C.S.
problems. but i am glad i found out what was wroung with me. it
took me just a year to found out. when those smells realy got to
me. thy keep puting me inn those white walls and halls do no good
hospiltals. and when i got out,. i went to the LIBRARY and got the
right books andtyped in the computers on M.C.S. ALLERGYS. and i had
the same problems, that the book and this web page discribed. BUT
THERE ARE MANY out there the hospitals and docters are not telling
these people the truth of whats wroung with them. thy are locked up
, druged up, and treated them well us to shut up..... so lets have

I read so many chronic illnesses and I would like for all of you

I Germany there is very little information available, most
Doc¥s (I am one too consider MCS as a psychosomatic disorder.
My wife suffers from MCS too, You site has helped me to make the
diagnosis. she racts on organophosphates, parfumes, shoe polish,
deoderants. 90 minutes after exposure she becomes red eyes, tehn a
disturbed vision,
she becomes clumpsy, finds it hard to think and concentrate and is
without any drive, The condition last for 6-9 days, is greatly
aleviated by Ca++-antogonists like e.g. nitrendipin.
Could you please supply us some information on your personal air
purifier (e-mail address of the producing or delivering
company).

If possible, I would like to be contacted by an attorney that
would represent a few people in western Wa. against Boeing for
chemical poisoning. I only have a few days to find someone until my
lawsuit [only for me alone] will be dismissed. There are however,
several of us that have MCS, that would like to file suite against
Boeing, the State, and our self insured company, Crawford and
Comp., Labor and industries, and the Machinists Union. I was
poisoned four years ago. I was sick with chronic bronchitis and
Asthma for 3+ years when they sent me to work in the aluminum
Cleanline area. This room is huge and contains several vats full of
five different kinds of toxic solvents. The parts were loaded in
overhead baskets, which is attached to a crane. There was no open
windows or doors, or anyother type of ventilation. We could not use
any type of respirater, or other protection. When I repeatedly
became ill, I had an idea it was the chemicals in there or the
paint odor coming from the paint room next door. In 1995, when we
went on strike, I got 100% better. We returned to work three months
later, and started getting bronchitis again. I knew then for sure
it was something in that building making me ill. My Doctor wrote a
letter to my supervision explaining this, and to tell them I needed
to be off work to get healthy again. My superviser threw it in the
garbage after I asked him to please take it to medical. I worked
for Boeing for almost 20 years at that time. I asked the superviser
to please move me out of that building. They fired me a few days
later!!! I am now homeless. I have lost my home, all my savings. my
health, and I can no longer work. I have tried to end my life
several times. There have been several Boeing workers that have
gone through the same thing that have succeded in ending theirs.
THIS IS WHAT THE BIG BUISNESS AND THE POLITIONS DO FOR US IN THIS
STATE!!!

I have a child with tourette syndrome.I have been told by our
neurologist that TS is a genetic disorder. Both my husband and I
have not seen any other family members with TS symptoms.The more I
read about chemical sensitivities the more I believe that the every
day household products do have a severe affect on our health.For a
trial test I switched from using Tide laundry detergent to using
Arm & Hammer Fragrance & Dye Free and within a week my
childs tics had decreased by more than 50%.I am determined to learn
as much as I can about household products and foods that are less
harmful.Any information on food allergies or diets for people with
TS would be greatly appreciated!!AND,YES,I do agree that it's time
to demand that the Food and Drug Administration take more
responsiblity by being honest with labels! Thank you Jackie for

These "Scents from Hell" could almost kill by depression; they are
nothing like the smell of the natural world. It is almost a relief
to know that they are poisonous as well. The use of scents breaks
every rule of charity, common sense, and social living; and must
ruin family and intimate relationships. Can the people who like
them be human? Can they not smell the hellish nature of that
stuff?! Can it be right that the "smell-deaf" majority can
tyrranize over the people who still have a sense of smell, as they
do now? Here in London the Hogsmill and Wandle Rivers which lead
into the Thames in West London stink of the vicious stench of
fabric conditioners. The adversing for these materials is hideously
dishonest and often uses children. No wonder children can't
concentrate at school, if those smells are in the classroom.

About a year ago now I began to adjust my diet because of
suffering from reflux and heartburn. Prior to that I had suffered
from sensitivity to chemicals and fragrances for about 4-6 years
(as previously reported on these pages). After endoscopy I was
diagnosed as possible Barretts Oesophagus and I was keen to make
the dietary changes that would lessen the possibility of its
progression. I have found during the last year that removing the
things from my diet that caused the digestive problems has
considerably lessened my sensitivity to chemicals and fragrances.
At one time when I got into a taxi with one of those dreadful
airfreshner things in my lips and eyes would start to feel sore and
my nose would burn, ditto for other peoples perfumes and
aftershaves. I now find that I feel much much better, have better
digestion, have lost a little weight(not massively but a bit is
good as it means that less pressure is put on the stomach) and no

of the Hay diet which was rec. by a homeopath and I took a course

The wife has allergies to perfumes. We have just move to a house

I worked for a company who makes nightgowns and I was very
healthy before I started to work there. About 3 weeks later i broke
out with a rash on my exposed parts of my body its been over a year
now and I am not any better. I have see numerous doctors and they

Does anyone know of a medical professional who has put together
a compilation of prooven case histories of illnesses that have been

Remember, extreme food/environmental chemical avoidance means make
your living environment and hygiene products safe (research the

sometimes means eating only healing foods for weeks and months or
even years until symptoms are seized, decreased, or eliminated. Raw

I have been reading past publications of Our Toxic Times and am
interested in the theory that Cindy Duehring has written regarding
MCS and porphyria. She reports a 90% incidence of abnormal
porphyrin levels in MCS people. (This is part of the metabolism

I, too, have MCS. It developed over about six years, thanks to
both the ignorance of every medical 'specialist' I went to
(neurology, infectious disease, general practice, family practice,
internal medicine, neuropsychology, psychiatry, even a so-called
"heart" specialist) and the blatant refusal of the many
'physicians' to admit to vaccine reactions (oral polio and tetanus)
followed five months later with 'routine' pesticide exposures.
*The government is addressing environmental illnesses right now via
panels of "experts" that are formulating the recognition,
diagnostic and treatment criteria to be used on a FEDERAL BASIS.
This basis will also be the guidelines for medical recognition and
testing and treatment to be TAIUGHT IN MEDICAL SCHOOLS. Their basis
is pesticide poisoning recognition (chemical poisoning resulting in
many health problems especially MCS, the government way of kind of
skirting the issue). The panels are comprised of 100 'experts' -
farmworker organizations, agriculture, public health, Crop

We all have had an immune assult because of the vaccines - they

After several yeaars of not using deodorant/anti-perspirant
because of the very strong reaction they provoke I have just tried
using a crystal that you wet and rub under your arms and after a
few days all is going well. I presume that this is the same thing
that an australian colleague told me about just over a year ago. He
had been home to holiday and said that everyone was raving about a

I started heving problems with MCS after a dear-death motorcycle
wreck in which I also sustained a TBI (closed-head injury related).
This, plus my taking employment doing janitorial work while my
Immune system was weak (many chemicals on the job) has caused me to
be MCS. I am new to computers (less than a year) but felt driven to
really put my "nose to the grindstone" and gather some physical
data to have handy when someone doesn't understand MCS. The most
dis-heartening thing for me is when people tend to "laugh it off"
when I try to explain, or worse, when the medical fields writes my
"fear of exposure" of as a PANIC ATTACK. I have been given
anti-depressants and other medicines to "treat my "hypocondrea""
which only leads me to getting sicker. Drug, Chemical, Perfumes and
Dyes......I dread Winter when all of the building recirculate the
same air.....of course I panic, as a result! At least I know that
when I step outside for air it will be cleaner than in the summer.
I agree wholeheartedly wi th the anger/anguish expresses recently
in a posting as to how our government etc. will allow all of these
harmful chemicals into everyday products until they can be proven
to be "harmful". My spin on that is that they won't allow "natural"
medicines/therapies until the figure out (I believe) a way that it
can profit from them. I have seen people die because the
"regulations" wouldn't allow certain things. In my city we had a
public building open a few years ago and instantly peole were
getting ill. I took forever for them to address the chemical
issue.....I heard them guess car emissions, sewer gasses,
ventillation problems till I wanted to scream! Duh! It all related
to clean air. I hope to become more involved in advocacy but at the
current time, just as since 1987 when I started having problems, I
will continue trying to heighten awareness/educate. Thank you for

Before THE SMELL got to me i was sick. i had allkinds of
sickness in my body.i had headachs, digestive problems, joint
pain,and others problems. this i had most of my life. but three3,
years ago it hit me right in the face. that smells, now i am almost
30 years old. those smells are so ALL-FULL. THAT PER-FUMES, THOSE
CHEMICAL CLEANERS, THAT cigeRATS SMOKE,AND THOSE CAR FUMES.AND MANY

I really like that you have a web site about Tourette Syndrome.
I have Tourette Syndrome. I am 15 years old and was diagnosed when
I was six years old. Keep up the good work. I hope that someday
there will be more awareness about Tourette Syndrome. It is a very
rare disease and not many people have even heard about it. Only
about 1 out of every 3000 people have Tourette Syndrome.

To Mike in Carroll County, one method of improving (it helped
me) is sauna detoxification. This is done at Dr. Rea's clinic in
Dallas (the Environmental Health Center www.ehc-d.com) I was able
to get the protocol from there and using an inexpensive portable
sauna, I "detoxed" at home. It needs to be a low heat (130 +/-) and
in a sauna that is not off gassing contaminants. There are books
out that cover this subject. I used a booklet from NEEDS
1-800-634-1380 called A Guide to Detoxification for th e Chemically
Hypersensitive. The NEEDS catalog has alot of other books and many
products for EI folks. I think they will send you a catalog for
free. Their web site is www.needs.com It is important to use the
sauna with caution because one can get worse if they are not doing

I have meet 3 people who went to the GULF WAR thy have been been
sick.and i have talked to a few people who has chemical sensitivty.
but there is differnt levels of both sickness its like 1-10. when
it gets to level 10 a mask you would hast to put on to outside. but
if you live with people that smoke or use chemicals or that
per-fume it would be so, so, upsetting. and if you live in a new
house those smells can get to you. or to all of us.GULF-WAR

A person in my office wears so much perfume I have trouble
breathing, have headaches, nausea, dizziness and sometimes fell as
if my body is quivering. I went to my supervisor and the City
Manager and was told the person has the right to wear this scent.
Quite a few people in my office have been suffering with acute
sinus problems, but since I am the only one to become physically
ill, it has been discounted that the perfume could be the problem.
I feel it is more important for this person to "smell good " than
it is for me to breathe. I'm not sure what I can do. Perhaps
someone has some suggestions, if so I would appreciate
comments.

WOW...I am glad I have stumbled on this site. About (2) years
ago I started to have very negative reactions to common household
cleaning and beauty products that never bothered me before. I have
been fairly successful in staying away from cleaning products but I
could definitley use some help with regard to beauty products. Does
anyone know of a makeup line that is chemical/fragrance free? How
about hair styling products like pomade/wax and gel? I just got
this great haircut but I cannot tolerate a ny styling products (due
to the fragrance) which this style needs to look pulled together
and professional. This may not seem like a big deal but without
makeup and styling products I simply look sloppy and
unprofessional. Any help or advice would be greatly
appreciated.

I was very pleased to find your informative website---I am doing
some research on MCS and sick house syndrome trying to help my aunt
who suffers from severe constant migraines, rashes, and, most
recently breathing difficulties--her doctors are of no help;

I was diagnosed with MCS in 1989 but it took 5 years to persuade
the authorities that such a thing existed. During this time I kept
on working in an enviroment of UV inks, solvents etc. Three years
after leaving work I underwent a triple by-pass after suffering
angina disguised as muscle spasms for at least a year. I am shortly
to undergo a total hip replacement, all I feel due to ex work. I
hope my story will help others.

My son is extrememely chemically sensitive and sadly even though
we live by the sea and all this fresh air we are bombarded almost
daily with pesticides...have been working with a scientist who
created a neutralizer so at least I have no more toxic air in my

well the weather has cooled off alittle here in georgia,i can
get out and walk and not get to hot but them FUME-A-GATES still get

I greatly appreciate this web site, 8 yrs ago I was told that I
was allergic to formaldehyde and I did not take it seriously. I did
not get tested, now I am having all kinds of health problems. It
took a while but I finally found a doctor to do chemical patch
testing. (It took forever to find a doc to do just that!) In the
meantime, I feel like I'm falling apart, ie. swollen eyes, swollen
throat, extremely tired, sleep but don't actually sleep?!?!, my
skin feels and looks like I pour acid on my hands, it burns,
itches, very painful, short of breath, chest pains, nauseas most
all the time, etc. I'm really sick and tired of feeling this way!
So, finding your website helps me to think that I'm not losing my

WELL I went out walking to day and those fumes got to
me,75percent i have to walk every were i go. and those fumes get to

my sister just had a baby hes 5 days old shes a school teacher
for cosmetology but she does acrylic nails at home with polish n

scientifically not provable statements sets up. Therefore he was
condemned by a US court to a high fine. President Clinton ha d
announced this law, as one indicated to me, 1990. They will surely
know, of which language pipe of the chemical industry I speak.
Unfortunately these info. was lost to me. But we need these info.
here in Germany urgently. Who knows details about this
condemnation.

I have been living with what I believed to be CFS for 5 years
now. I have been noticing worsening symptoms of MCS in the last 2
years. My doctor, of course, is worthless. I had to diagnose myself
with MCS. I have recently quit taking all my medications as I felt
they were making me worse. I was right. I haven't improved much by
not taking them except that I sleep better and my nerve endings are
no longer raw and my circulation has improved. I have been looking
for answers through the internet as that's the only place I can
find some answers. I worked at a plant that makes diesel fuel
pumps. I was constantly exposed to diesel-based calibrating oils.
The building was well-ventilated until EPA came in and said that it
was polluting the air. So now all the chemicals are trapped in the
building harming the workers. (Tell me that makes sense!) I felt
that was the cause of my problems. All the doctors and; of course,
the plant payed no attention to it. This week, I was at the Fire
Station where I am a volunteer. We sprayed a pesticide throughout
the building. I had severe gas pains, felt very lightheaded and
weak. That's when I realized that I may have been misdiagnosed.
Your website has given me hope when I had given up all hope of any
kind of recovery. I now feel I can regain control of my life. For
the first time in five years, someone has told me the truth and
given me a way to beat this illness. Thank you for giving me my
life back.

Jacki & Gorden - Thanks for your beautiful story of faith
and perseverance. I have been living with MCS for almost two years.
It has turned our world upside down. I am thankful that I found a

Great site and information. More needs to be done to get the
word out about how people poison themselves unknowingly while
creating huge profits for the poisoners. I always thought that
knowingly poisoning someone was illegal. I am a member of an

Steps should be made to ensure that offending products are
labeled properly just as cigarettes are labeled. Then let the
potential buyer read the label and decide whether he/she feels
"lucky" today. Hospitals, Doctor/Dental offices, Churches, Schools
and Grocery stores could benefit from a no scent/no harsh chemicals
policy. Those seeking such may be rewarded if enough people
politely request this in writing. Always, always, always, make your
requests in writing. In the mean time, HOLD YOUR TONGUE, a nd put
on your mask. Bring an oxygen tank if if it helps you function. But
there are polite/respectful ways to get the message across to
others. Raging in public is not the solution.
I personally feel there are sacred places where people should have
the right to wear perfume.. ie. movie theatres, concert halls,
weddings, large department stores, and clothing stores and of
course outdoors. Most of us with MCS could not work in places like
this without a mask.
When out and about, if I smell a strong scent like detergent/
bleach/or someones perfume I hold my breath and walk to another
part of the store for fresh air. Due to years of chemical/food
avoidance my reaction to scents/foods has reduced dramatically. I
have a clean bill of health, but I still avoid even traces of
chemicals after repeatedly observing how they slowly progress to
signs of the debilitating symptoms that almost destroyed my good
health. I feel thankful that progress is being made to edu cate the
public.
Jacki, the old archives you have here of peoples symptoms and
exposures is something I have not observed anywhere else on the
net. I often return to read the old, old archives in your visitor
remarks pages. Interesting news there.
I'm seeing the progress in MCS awareness. Thanks for regularly
updating your site with news. I'm sure your site has opened many
eyes.

Some people and places dont understand people with M .C. S.
Ihave been band from places because i had a bad reations to
per-fumes and ect... stuff. i was band at all local city parks and
even the Hospatal and some doctors offices thy all have that
per-fumes in them witch makes me verey upset. i allso have physcal
health probs.thy treat me like a test hamster or a rat. but i am a
human i have rights. thy exspose people to dangers stuff in these
places. thy even put me in jail for talking of M. C. S. . THY ARE

As a person with mcs symptoms under control through
food/chemical avoidance I have to laugh a little at these people
who try to say mcs is non existant.
If they are so sure that no one could get mcs.... that there are no
causes for mcs in our society.....and that no one has been exposed
to anything that could possibly cause mcs.... I have one
question.
Are you willing to gamble with your own health to prove it. It
doesn't exist right? So do this. Why not. After all,nothing in this
society can affect Your health, right? So do this.
Over the next... Oh... say...10...20 years...every time you're at
the gas station pumping gas (MTB) take deep... deep breaths, hold
those fumes deep within your lungs as long as you can. It won't
have any detrimental health affects on You right? Nothing does. Not
on You. And perfume? Load it on. I would give some special brands
I've tried personally, but thats not nice...so lets just say most
of the best smelling should suffice. Rub in into the pores on your
head even. And whenever your out and about, if anyone around you is
wearing a strong scent be sure to breathe deep...in fact chase
around anyone with a stong scent and suck it up....always and hold
it in. When using cement, or common household bleach, or airplane
glues, or nail glue, or acrylic dust....breath deep (remember, it
won't cause mcs...because according to you...mcs does not exist).
Heavy dust on the road, cement, or plaster dust, breathe deep. If
youre so sure it doesn't exist than you be a guinea pig with
witnesses/documentation to prove you have been exposed to all these
things and you have no mcs symptoms. Now THAT would be one for the
record books. If you could do that over a 10-20 year period without
getting MCS symptoms and document it with witnesses you are one
rare tweety. In fact, you could probably sell parts of your DNA for
your myraculous immune system alone.
Note: MCS does exist. How do you know what people and their
ancestors were exposed to that could have cause MCS symptoms. Would
you think differently if I said I lived in a town where there was a
plutonium spill, or I was one of the Love Canal Victims, and I now
react to small traces of chemicals in everything. If you do not
believe anyone can get MCS, that is your choice. We with MCS have
either been over exposed ourselves, and/or our parents or
grandparents were overexposed and passed it on to us. We in Jacki's
visitor remarks page choose to share our symptoms and solutions and
help one another stop the cycle of exposure, suffering and
unnecessary surgeries. It it our choice. And knocking our desire to
help one another is Your choice.
Know this. Doing the experiment above is a death sentence. Do not
gamble with your body. Do not do any of this thinking your are
immune because you have great genetics. Science will probably one
day prove that no one is immune if exposed to the right combination
of chemicals. And they could be out there in your hairspray, your
perfume, your hairgel, your milk, your fertalizer, you roach bombs,
your ant killer, you bug spray, you nail polish, your.........
Awareness is a gift..... Everyone doesn't share.
..but then there are people like Jacki. .... wonder why?

My struggle with MCS disability began 12 years ago. I did
everything imaginable to deal with MCS as MCS. I was defeated on
every front until I had no more strength. I am now "in the closet"
and have been for several years. I'd love to come back out again if
anyone can convince me that I could survive it. The emotional pain
of "beating my head against a brick wall" for almost 10 years was
intolerable. I now live a marginal life trying to survive and
support myself with a disability that I no longe r will talk about.
It's very hard.

I appreciate the comprehensive site you have put together. Your
book list is excellent. I am a non-MCS person speaking out about
the growing problem of building exposures and environmental toxins.
I noticed that you have included Tom's of Maine in your non-toxic
toothpastes. Not so. It includes Sodium Laurel Sulfate, identified
by Roberta Baskin on CBS 2 years ago as a carcinogen. I would also

I am not a christian but I think this is one of the best sites
around for easy to understand info on chemical sensitivity. I have
a mild case of MCS - it doesn't stop me doing much but I have a lot
of headaches and nerve pain to deal with. So thanks for your hard

Just thought I would pass on some info about a few products I
have just started using and like very much. All come from Australia
so there must be some good stuff going on down under. I buy them
from the Hale Clinic in London (for those in the UK) which is a big
centre for alternative medicine.
Flaxseed overall body moisturiser. Made by NATURAL SECRETS 23
Fairway West Yokine, 6060 Western Australia - this moisturiser has
the shortest list of ingredients of any I have ever found and is
fragrance free (Water, Tricthanolamine, Stearic Acid, Palmatic
Acid, Wheatgerm Oil, Flaxseed Oil, Glycerol, Germall II)
Unscented very gentle shampoo for sensitive scalps and
babies. THE PURIST COMPANY 33 Govell Street Katoomba NSW 2780. Free

Jurlique Calendula C cream - a wonderful facial moisturiser
which is sadly very expensive. JURLIQUE is more widely available
but as I said is very expensive (here in the UK anyway, its
probably cheaper in US)
I continue to use Aveda Allsensitive Shampoo/conditioner/hair
gel, and am quite happy with some of the Kiehl's products
especially their 'extra-strength styling gel' which has better hold
than Aveda and no fragrance. Kiehl's also do a Castile Shampoo and
a baby shampoo which I like very much. If anyone - especially in
the UK wants to mail me please feel free. My sensitivity to
fragrance is much improved recently after I changed my diet and
started taking nutritional supplements to control reflux. A very
positive side effect as far as I am concerned, as you can imagine.

Enjoyed the tip on alternative cleaning and personal hygiene
products. Two products I use that you did not mention are Fruit of
the Earth 100% Pure Aloe Vera Gel. I use it as a skin lotion &
aftershave as well as a hair mousse. It works wonderfully. Also, I
use Johnson's Ultra Sensitive Baby Wash. It is the only liquid soap
I've found that is completely fragrance free. I am extremely
sensitive to fragrances, even in so-called hypo-allergenic products
so I am highly dependant on getting the aforeme ntioned products.
Too bad they are usedmainly for sunburn (the aloe vera) and baby
products. Many sensitive folks such as I would benefit if these
were more widely marketed as allergy free products.

I was grateful to find your "little place" and the links so full
of valuable information.Tara Fetterly's story sounded so familiar.
There are some things that have improved my condition: A
healthy,sensible diet with lots of steamed distilled water and
herbal teas (stinging nettle #1). Vitamin and mineral supplement,
expecially a vitamin B-Balanced Complex and Co-Enzyme Q10. A
personal air supply from Breathefree Products (permitted me to stay
at worship many times that would have been intolerabe,othew ise). A
12 inch box fan with a 3M, 1000 filter attached to the back that I
run every night in my bedroom (as per a TX allergy doctor from the
internet who says that it is as good an air purifier as money can
buy and cost about $25.00). A colon and parasite cleanse (which,
had I done first, I might have been spared much turmoil). The
allergies are still there, but I am now able to cope. Thanks so
